Hey everyone! I went on Poptropica and I saw, in the Store, that the Ringmaster Costume for Monster Carnival Island is already out! It hasn’t even been posted on the Creators’ Blog yet! The costume has three colors: Red, White, and Purple. (I like the red one the most. xD)

This costume is for members only and it is one of three items coming out for Monster Carnival Island. Also, it’s for a limited time only; it’s available until the end of early access for the island and then it’ll be gone! So go get it today!

The Creators recently posted about a fan called Perfect Sky making a video about Poptropica Labs, and whoever she is, she’s very lucky, seeing as it’s the first time the Creators have posted a fan video on their blog! I like some of her builds, they are really detailed! Check it out:

Hey everyone! Something unexpected happened today – when I went to the Store, I saw two new members-only costumes for Mythology Island! They are the Cyclops and Icarus:

This is really interesting – Mythology Island has never had a members’ gear pack in the Store! We know there were plans for Mythology to be the next SUI (sound-updated island), although it’s been about 3 months since the Creators announced that. This might be the beginning of it!

Also, look forward to Mission Atlantis Island on Thursday – I’ll be contributing to the guide! :P

Poptropica sticker book cover – conspiracy?

The Poptropica Sticker Book that I posted about a while ago now has a cover — a mighty fine one at that — and that’s pretty note worthy as it is. But, when I saw the cover, I immediately remembered a place where I had saw it before — laying on a table in a picture of a Poptropica party that the Creators threw – 2 YEARS AGO!

How long has this thing been sitting on the Creator’s desk, waiting to be published? A long time. O.o What could have taken them so long to publish this book? Copyright issues? Or have they just not gotten to it? So many questions…

This supports some of my theories on Poptropica Books, however, one being the rumor (started by me) about a Night Watch Island book. If they just haven’t published them yet, then we could be having a lot of books that seem outdated or have been rumored for a long time.

Embedding Poptropicans into WordPress posts

For all you people who use WordPress (.com, of course), you may have wanted at some point to put your poptropican into a post. You go to the Poptropica Avatar Studio, you put in your username, then you copy the embed code that comes up. You put it into your post, and BAM! It… doesn’t come up. You see, for safety reasons (IDK what safety reasons, but whatever), WordPress does not allow you to use embed flash in posts or in WordPress in general.

There is a work-around, though, that lets me add my Poptropican to the bottom of this post. The work-around involves (manually) converting the script into a “Gigya Shortcode”. WordPress allows this type of code. But, it is a hassle, and you may not have the intellect to do it. So I did it for you. All you have to do is:

1. Go to the Avatar Studio, and enter your username. When your character pops up, click “view link”.
2. When you’re on the linked page, copy the url of it.
3. Now, paste the link between the empty quotation marks in the following code: gigya src=”INSERT HERE” width=”169″ height=”236″
4. There is one modification to the url you have to make. Change “avatar.html?” to “charEmbed.swf?”. Now, add [ and ] to the front and end of the code. You can also change the numbers (the unit is pixels) within the quotation marks to change the width/height of your embedded Poptropican.

And there you have it!  Your living, breathing Poptropican in your post/page!  I hope you find this helpful! :D You can also use this in the sidebar like Fishy did. ;)

New Poptropica backgrounds

While playing Zomberry Island recently, I noticed an awesome desktop background on the laptop of the disco dancer. I immediately wanted it, so I downloaded it and got a high quality shot, which you can download here. :D

My friend Pixel took it a step further and personalized his background with his name in the center of it. You can make your own personalized background with PicFont or Pixlr Express, and maybe even add a few more things than just your name. ;)

I also made a new desktop wallpaper featuring minimal Dr. Hare and Shark Boy! It took me a while, and I hope you like it! :D You can separate icons using the different colored planes, maybe one for work and one for play, or different types of programs. I might update it in the future, so keep your eyes out for a new version. :)

Applebees costumes & Avatar Studio card gone, while other Store items remain

First alerted by Pixel, the rare “Apple Pie costume” and the “Apple Powered Glasses costume” have been deleted! If you look at the items in your inventory, you’re presented with a blank poptropican with no costume. I personally don’t think it’s right to delete rare items that save to your inventory, as they should be kept (other wise they just look stupid in there).

Also, the “Avatar Studio” card has been removed from the Store, perhaps because of the Shark Boy on the front of the card. I wonder if they’ll re-upload it with Dr. Hare on the front, or maybe they’ll leave it forever gone, making it a rare gold card.

And speaking of rare items, you may have noticed that multiple items that were supposed to be deleted from the Store still show for some users. The Ringmaster Costume, Wrestling Gear, 6th Birthday Balloon, and Beta Tester Costume are all items that were scheduled to be deleted from the Store, but remain there to this day.

Advertisement: Legends of Oz – Dorothy’s Return

A new ad has popped up on islands (such as Skullduggery) featuring the upcoming movie Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return. After watching the trailer, boys will be awarded with a Flying Monkey Costume (which is pretty awesome), and girls will be awarded a Toto Tote (also awesome).

I’m confused now – which island will release its next episode first, Survival or Mission Atlantis? On one hand, the Atlantis: Ep. 2 medallion came first, followed by the incomplete one of Survival: Ep. 4…

…and, on the other hand, the Creators have just released a new members-only freebie into the Store for Survival: Episode 4: the Rhino Costume!

UPDATE: As noted by Enricc1, if you have a friend wearing this costume, you can customize it from them, even if you’re not a member! HP (username: puterpop) is currently wearing the Rhino, so you can customize this two-piece outfit from him if you’d like. Hurry, before the Creators fix it! :P

Also, everyone can now play episode 3 of Survival (Distress Signal) on the Poptropica iOS app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. And not only that, the Creators have confirmed that this episode will also be online for everyone tomorrow, June 26 (Thursday)!

Oh, and Episode 2 of Mission Atlantis (Fortress of the Deep) will be released on the same day (June 26), but only if you’re a member. We’ll have the walkthrough here on the PHB as soon as possible, so keep an eye out for it! :)

Back to the medallions, though: they’re arranged in the order of the islands, and the next installment of Mission Atlantis looks like it’ll come before Survival’s, seeing as that medallion came first. (That is, unless the Creators go rogue and break their pattern again, which has been happening quite a bit lately…) Long story short: Atlantis: Ep. 2 for members tomorrow, Survival: Ep. 3 for everyone on the app now as well as online tomorrow! Now to wait for Survival: Ep. 4…

Hey everyone! I just went on Poptropica and saw a new members only costume card in the Store! On a recent post from the Creators’ Blog, they said they’ve got soccer fever, and so they created uniforms for the 8 teams that made it to the 2014 World Cup quarterfinals!

As you can see, I’m wearing the Brazil uniform! The other teams represented are Belgium, Argentina, Costa Rica, Netherlands, Colombia, France, and Germany! Here’s a picture of the uniforms:

I love the jerseys! My favorite jerseys are those of Argentina, Belgium, and Colombia! I wish the US made it to this stage, so we could get a US costume. Oh well. :P I’ll see you all later! Bye!

Heh, I mean, what’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with a little bit of football fever! Or “soccer”, to you Americans. (I’m sorry americans please don’t eat my family) As you may know, Germany won the FIFA World Cup this past weekend, and as promised, the Creators have released their uniform as a free costume for everyone in the Store! But get it quick – it’ll be gone after one week.

So anyway, in addition to that, I have this screencap of me breaking the game. Physics is dead.

Have any of you experienced this glitch as well? Let me know in the comments below before the giant fire-retardant spewing plane eats me! Seriously, this thing won’t stop following me. Make it stop.

Mission Atlantis: Episode 2 now on iOS app

Mission Atlantis: Fortress of the Deep (Episode 2) is now available on Poptropica’s iOS app. If you don’t want to navigate the treacherous waters alone, check out our written walkthrough (with pictures) or use a video from our trivia page to get you past the fearsome goblin shark and more!

Price hike on sausage costumes

Both the Hot Dog and Tofu Dog costumes, released to the Poptropica Store in 2010, are currently 150 credits each. (With a few exceptions, costumes are generally 75 credits each.) I’m not sure when or why exactly their price inflated, as they’re not exactly the most glamorous costumes out there. :P

(Speaking of the Store, the members-only Ringmaster costume which was supposed to be gone after the Early Access period of Monster Carnival Island is still here, several months later. It’s a great costume though, so hopefully it stays!) Well, at least members can get everything in the Store for free.

Sticker book is here

Also, the Poptropica Ultimate Sticker Collection book is now available, with over 1000 re-usable stickers as promised! You can get it for US$11.69 on Amazon or perhaps your local bookstore if they’re awesome enough to stock these.

Meanwhile on Poptropica’s Tips & Tricks app, they’ve added guides for Survival 2 through 4, and it’s 99 cents for each episode. If it’s a walkthrough you need, though, I’d advise saving your money and using the PHB’s free Survival Island Guide instead! Sure, we’re not official, but we’re still here to help. :P

Speaking of Survival, there’s just one more episode left, and from what we know, you’re on the run from MVB, but you have a friend waiting for you in the woods. He’s the mysterious character who left you notes on the tapestry in Episode 4 (allowing your escape), and signed it “M.M.” So who is M.M.?

Remember the Manifest from the plane in Episode 3? There was a name for the coin-collecting passenger: Max McGullicutty… M.M.! And this Daily Pop sneak peek might just be giving us a look at him, disheveled from life in the woods, and more importantly, with an “M” on his belt buckle:

If you remember from one of HP’s Survival Files on the PHB, there’s some dialogue with what appears to be a superstitious fisherman… and as we haven’t encountered this character yet, perhaps it’s Max.

Also, we haven’t forgotten about Poptropica Land, now in alpha version 2 and still only available to members (get the Labs card from the Store). It’s a big step up from the first prototype of Poptropica Labs, and new features include: the magical blue hammer of creation and destruction (Svadilfari), “Poptanium” mining instead of coins, the ability to save, and more!

Everyone is dressed up for the biggest sci-fi and fantasy convention in Poptropica. At PoptropiCon, the most important thing isn’t what you do — it’s how you look doing it!

For members, Lunar Colony and Game Show Costumes are in the Poptropica Store for free. Not enough, huh? Well fear not! Members also get a printable poster from the Store! With it, you can print out a magazine (just a poster though) of yourself and other superheroes and hang it high on your wall for all to see.

Looking good. 8-) Sadly, your poptropican doesn’t have a cool pose, like the rest of the heroes.

Thoughts on Arabian Nights description

We already knew about Arabian Nights of course, but the recent announcement reveals some epic wallpapers and descriptions. As I was reading, however, I found something that sort of peeved me.

In Arabian Nights, players will travel across the desert trying to rescue the Sultan’s lamp from the 40 Thieves. Prepare for an adventure full of magic, treachery, and danger, in a setting like none we’ve ever created!

I’ve made my standing on this topic known, but in-fact there has been an Arabian setting created in Poptropica before. One of the many ports that Skullduggery island has is called Golden Harbor. It has an Arabian theme, thus they have created a similar setting before. Just wanted to point this out. :P

Drawing Poptropicans with Jon Pitcher

The Creators recently posted a video on their YouTube channel featuring Poptropica illustrator Jon Pitcher. In the video, he shows you how he draws Poptropican heads, and how you can make your own. While the camera is a little shaky, I still think that the Poptropicans he drew were awesome. :D

I might just make a video tutorial for drawing my Poptropican style sometime in the near future too. If you liked the video, you might also want to check out the PHB’s How to draw a Poptropican guide. :)

Jeff Heim’s account

I recently asked Poptropica’s sound producer Jeff Heim to make a Poptropica account, to which he responded that he already had one – his username is jeffheim88, and his Poptropican’s name is Lazy Cactus! While he hasn’t completed any islands, he does have membership and apparently believes in Bigfoot. :P He lives in New Hampshire, US, and is a member of the Black Flags tribe.

If you check out his site, you’ll also find a video (using all Poptropica music) where he explains what he does – note the smile when he mentions Poptropica. ;)

 7th birthday/Halloween costumes

You may know about the new 7th birthday balloon that you can get free in the Store, but they also released two new Halloween-themed costume cards – the Egyptian Mummy and the Scarecrow. These both can be found in the Haunted House mini-quest, and are fully costumizable there. It’s quite a mystery why they’re here – for one thing, they should be in the costumes section. Also, does this relate to Poptropica’s birthday? Only time will tell, I guess. :P

Hey everyone! In addition to the free 7th birthday balloon that everyone can claim in the Store, the Creators have also released a special 7th birthday costume – and it’s not the usual cake suit this time around! Thanks to my good friends Squeezy Wing & Pixel for the picture on the right:

As explained on Poptopica’s 7th birthday page (which, strangely, has pics from the 6th birthday), what you need to do to claim this lucky outfit is simply to visit any common room during the celebration, find the special “7” balloon (it may take several tries before it shows up, so be patient and keep trying!). Pop it with a click to get the Lucky 7th Birthday Costume! Contrary to the Creators’ claim, the balloon is not golden in color – it’s green and blue!

Anyway, don’t forget that the PHB is having a Poptropica/PHC party this Saturday in celebration of Poptropica’s 7th birthday (and also my 15th)! Hey Poptropicans! Along with all the behind-the-scenes ideas the Creators have been tweeting recently, they’ve also put in some sketched-out scenes for Arabian Nights Island (which comes out this Thursday for members)! (click to enlarge images below)

And we’ve already seen the logo drafts for Mission Atlantis, but the Creators have just tweeted some logo designs for Arabian Nights Island as well! I personally like the final logo the best, but all of them are pretty cool. :)

Plus, there is finally an Arabian Nights members only item out! It’s a printable poster of a book cover with your Poptropican on it (similar to the PoptropiCon poster). Here’s what it looks like:

New ads: Star Wars Rebels & Skylanders Trap Team

Ads have been getting a lot of hype recently – what with banners, cards taking you to the ads, carousel slots, and mentions on the Creator’s Blog – and the funny thing is that the actual ads themselves are just billboard ads. The two newest are for the Star Wars Rebels and the Skylanders Trap Team.

Upon logging in, you’ll obtain two cards that will take you to each ad. After watching the trailer videos for both campaigns, you’ll collect a Snap Shot Costume from the Skylanders ad, and a Stormtrooper Helmet from the Star Wars ad.

My favorite out of the two is the Stormtrooper helmet, as it has a bobblehead effect – and while the teal dragon costume does as well, I think the helmet looks cooler. :D

Thinknoodles mention

I recently sent in some fan art to Thinknoodles (a popular YouTube gamer who plays Poptropica), and he gave me his “Golden Noodle Award” on his Minecraft Survival series! :D The idea of this is that in each episode, someone who sent in an awesome idea or cool fan art gets a sign on Thinknoodles’s tree with their name on it. Watch the video below and skip to 0:52 to see my mention. :)

As for the artwork, it’s a drawing of his Poptropican, Speedy Catfish (his username is thinknoodles), and I put a lot of effort into this one. I also have a new drawing software, which I think will improve the quality of my art, and thus the quality of your Poptropica Portraits. ;)

Poptropica Land: public preview

The Creators recently announced that a two week long public preview for Poptropica Land will be commencing October 16th (in 6 days!), and will end October 30th. There’s even a countdown to the big day on the front page!

During this period, everyone, including non-members, will be able to access Land. This is a big opportunity for non-members to send in their creations to the Creators. They’ll be posting their favorites to the blog as mentioned in the post. :D

Upcoming big launches

Poptropica recently tweeted a “behind the scenes” email from Poptropica HQ about some upcoming big launches. (Oh look, they use Gmail! :P ) As mentioned above, next Thurs (Oct 16) they plan to release public access to Land for a Poptropica-sponsored contest. On the same day, we’ll be getting a “New Start World” and some “polish and bug fixes” to Land as well! We’ll have to wait to see what’s new.

The Thursday after that (Oct 23), the first episode of Arabian Nights (How Bazaar) will be released to all! And finally, coming soon to Poptropica’s mobile app is Ep. 1 of PoptropiCon (no date mentioned).

Poptropica Pioneers

I’ve recently started a new video series on my Youtube Channel similar to Thinknoodles’ Road to Captain Thinknoodles series, entitled Poptropica Pioneers. The idea is that a few days after I release my video walkthrough for the newest release, I upload a recording of me trying to figure out the island/episode for the first time.

From the feedback I’ve been getting, people are really seeming to enjoy it, so check out the first episode below and tell me what you think. :D Of course you’ll be able to view new releases of walkthroughs and Poptropica Pioneers on my channel, so go subscribe to that if you’d like. :P

Free Halloween costumes

If you remember a few weeks back during Poptropica’s 7th birthday, a couple of ghastly costumes popped up in the Store and then strangely disappeared. They have now returned for Halloween spirit – and if you don’t remember, they are the Egyptian Mummy and the Scarecrow from the Haunted House quest, now made into gold card items. You can get them for free in the Store!

In addition, you can get some more free Halloween-themed costume cards from the bottom half of the Store page! These aren’t new, but they’ve never been free before today either.

Girls can get the Furry Monster 1, 2, and 3, Werewolf Girl, Bride of Frankenstein, Vampire Girl 1, and Little Demon; boys can get the Furry Monster 1, 2, and 3, Werewolf Boy, Frankenstein, and Little Demon – all for the great price of 0 credits! >:D

Hey Poptropicans! Now that the final “Best of Land” challenge has ended, the Land public preview is now over (alpha version 2 is back to being members only). On Halloween, while we here at the PHB announced the winners of our 6th Annual Costume Competition, the Creators featured the best “Haunted” Land entries they received – and here they are (click to enlarge):

As mentioned earlier, Shrink Ray Island will soon be re-released as a SUI (sound-updated island), with bigger screen, sounds, and all the gimmicks of the newer islands! According to an official tweet, this update is coming in November – sometime this month! The official Tour page has even been given a makeover, now with a desktop wallpaper and printable poster (see below):

Oh look, it’s the protagonist CJ, from whom my Poptropican got that awesome striped hoodie! :mrgreen: And… I know we’re miniature, but that’s a creepily big cat. :o

Also, Members can now claim two new free Store costumes: the Milk Box and Bottle Cap!

(Maybe you recognize them from a sneak peek related to one of the “Inside Poptropica” videos. Speaking of videos, they’ve also re-uploaded the Shrink Ray Island trailer, but it is basically the same as the previous except for the “now with sound” emphasis and new soundtrack composed by Jeff Heim.)

As a classic island, Shrink Ray will come as a one-part story, rather than episodic (multi-part) – and according to Poptropica, more one-part islands will be released for both online & mobile starting January 2015. However, whether this means new one-part islands or just old ones re-hashed into SUIs remains to be seen. Hopefully it’s the former. :P

Over on Poptropica’s Twitter, two new sneak peeks called PopStorm (Poptropica brainstorm) have surfaced – perhaps a continuation of the Hair Potion idea? I still think it’d make a cool gold card item or something, and these sketches look goofily grand. :D

Last but not least, plans for an Android app are looking steadier! According to this tweet, it will be ready in just 5 more weeks, which at this point means it’ll be available in the first week or so of December.

Hey guys! Just a quick post to let everyone know that the sound-updated Shrink Ray Island (SUI) will be out for everyone on December 4, which is this Thursday! If you’re having a little trouble, check out our Shrink Ray Island Guide. Plus, remember that the Shrink Ray (gun) is now free in the Store! :D

In other news, since the release of the Poptropica App on Android, the amount of downloads has been amazing: a rate of nearly 6,000 per day! Now that’s pretty cool.

The Creators have also released yet another piece of Poptropica art on Twitter (click to enlarge):

It’s a bit more difficult to tell what this is for. Along with the image, the Creators tweeted: “Behind-the-scenes at Poptropica. We too get that busy, overwhelmed, confusing feeling.”

That also doesn’t give anything away, at least not for me. However, if this is not a sneak peek, this could just be something they put together for fun to lament the busy times. Then again, they did say “behind the scenes”, and the font used in “AHHHHHHH!” looks like it may be for Galactic Hot Dogs. What do you guys think? Comment below!

Helloooo Poptropicans! As of 4pm EST on Thursday, Arabian Nights: Episode 2 (Lair of Thieves) became available to members, which marks the release of the 50th medallion! There’s a video walkthrough on our Arabian Nights Island Guide right now (written guide coming soon), but you can also check out Captain Crawfish’s official video guide or ask around on the PHC for help.

In other news, a news site called BellyFeel recently posted a ten-minute Skype interview they had with Jeff Kinney, Poptropica’s founder (and Diary of a Wimpy Kid author). Check out the video below, or read the transcribed conversation on their site.

In the video, Jeff discusses some of the thought processes behind Poptropica, including scrapping the idea of our characters having their own home/apartment, the decision to switch to episode format due to the popularity of mobile gaming, and even a confession about the original name of Poptropica – “Poptropolis” – being altered due to Nicktropolis, as Brave Tomato theorized in a previous post.

Hey Poptropicans! Remember the sneak peek of biome hats that was tweeted with the launch of Realms? They’ve just recently hit the Store – for free! Five of these Biome Hats are available to everyone, but just like in Realms itself, the Fire and Crystal ones are for members only.

Speaking of Realms, here are this week’s Remarkable Realms creations featured on the Poptropica Twitter. There were a couple of neat water parks (perhaps inspiration for the abandoned WaterThrill Island?), and Chilly Ring’s ship was also on the Creators’ Blog. As always, click to enlarge pics.

Regarding sharing Realms with friends, Poptropica confirms that they are in fact working on it! They also hope to bring Realms to the app in the next six to ten months.

In other news, Arabian Nights – Episode 2: Lair of Thieves is now available as a mobile app update on Google Play! If you need a guide, we’ve got you covered.

Finally, the Creators tweeted Popstorm (Poptropica brainstorm/doodle) #14 – exaggerated emotion! There does seem to be a lot of feeling behind this one.

Hey guys! There are some new updates on Poptropica – let’s check them out!

First, there’s a new “Home” ad (for the Party Edition of the Dreamworks movie) on Poptropica Main Streets (such as Game Show), and you just have to click on the ad to collect an untitled Car Follower!

On another note, PHB reader Muddy Kid recently noticed that the Templar Knight in the Store now costs 410 credits (costumes are usually only 75 credits, and some are even free). It seems like the Creators are having a price hike after giving us a raise, but so far, this seems to be the only item affected with a higher price.

Also, we’ve received a bit of an explanation from the Creators regarding the sudden change of Nabooti Island being for members only. They put their response in an image since it couldn’t be contained in the 140 characters max that Twitter allows. It’s not much, but the basic idea is that Poptropica continues to evolve, and one experimentation isn’t the end of the world. Read it here:
